Bastardo. Born different.

Part-hostel, part-hotel — a new hospitality category.

It's all about who and what we are. In Spanish, it's a word with a unique meaning: something different, with mixed roots. And that's us.

When we created the first Bastardo in Madrid, we threw away the hostel rulebook. Bastardo embraces everyone and delights in difference — a place for free-thinking, free-travelling, like minds to meet. Visitors, locals and the wantonly tribeless.

Whatever your need or budget — private or shared rooms, single travellers, couples or groups — at Bastardo, you are all our family.

Inside Bastardo

Our flagship in Madrid.

Madrid is trading today. The look, the feel and the mix of spaces that make the category work.

The platform.

Bastardo is a joint venture with Juan Cena, founder and CEO of Bastardo Hostels, to scale the brand across the UK and Europe. The Madrid flagship is trading; a second property is under development in Granada; and we are actively evaluating opportunities in across London and other major European cities.

Beyond great hospitality, Bastardo plugs the gap left by short-let platforms — much-needed affordable stays that ease the pressure on long-stay housing stock, at price points that hold up whatever the economy does.

For Curate, Bastardo is more than a brand — it's what our model looks like when we own the operations as well as the strategy.
